Captures are blank or show only the wallpaper

macOS hasn't given FrameShot Screen Recording permission yet.

  1. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording.
  2. Turn on FrameShot. If it's already on, turn it off and on again.
  3. Quit and reopen FrameShot. macOS applies this permission only after a restart of the app.

You can reopen the setup guide anytime from the menu bar icon › Setup & Permissions…

A shortcut doesn't do anything

Another app may be using the same key combination. Open FrameShot Settings › Shortcuts, click the shortcut and press a different combination.

Scrolling capture doesn't scroll by itself

Automatic scrolling needs the optional Accessibility permission. Turn on FrameShot in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Without it, press Start and scroll the page yourself; FrameShot still stitches it together.

My voice isn't in the recording

After selecting the area, check that the microphone button in the recording bar is on and its level moves when you speak, before you press Start Recording. If it shows an orange warning, nothing is coming in: pick the right microphone under Options, and check that it isn't muted. Also check Microphone permission in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.

Moving to a new Mac

Deactivate your license on the old Mac, then activate it on the new one with the same key. If the old Mac is no longer available, email us and we'll reset the activation.

System requirements

A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 15 Sequoia or later. 120 fps recording needs a ProMotion display.
